Campfire Hamburger Pie

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 T diced onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 1 C cubed potatoes
  • 1 C chopped mushrooms
  • 2 pkgs crescent roll dough
  • Garlic and herb seasoning
  • pepper to taste
  • Anti stick aluminum foil
  • 1/2 stick melted butter

In a camp skillet, brown hamburger until almost done and break up until small pieces.  Drain grease and saute vegetables with hamburger, seasoned well with garlic and herb seasoning and pepper to taste.  Set aside.  Open crescent roll dough and break into two large pieces, closing seams.  Spoon a fourth of the hamburger mixture on to the dough and fold other side over and seal by rolling edge together.  Brush outside of dough with melted butter and wrap in anti-stick aluminum foil.  Repeat with rest of dough and meat mixture.  Lay on top of grate over campfire with hot coals, but low flame, and bake until dough is browned, about 10 – 15 minutes, turning once to avoid burning on one side.   Cool before serving.  Makes 4.
