- Pita bread
- Pizza sauce of your choosing
- Toppings such as pepperoni, cooked sausage, mushrooms, onion, green pepper
- Mozzarella cheese
- Cooking spray
Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a cookie sheet or pizza pan with cooking spray. Place pita bread in center of pan and top with sauce, add toppings of your choice and top with mozzarella. Bake for 15 – 20 minutes or until cheese is melted. Allow to cool a few minutes before serving. Each pita pizza serves 1.
Lighter Side Option:
To reduce the calories use whole wheat pita bread and use marinated and diced tomatoes such as Hunts in Basil, Garlic and Oregano instead of sauce. Add sliced fresh mushrooms, red onion, green or red peppers and reduced fat mozzarella or crumbled feta cheese. If you like to have meat on your pizza, go with a light turkey or chicken sausage, in moderation, and stay away from the pepperoni. Bake as directed above.
